Claude pricing for work: every plan explained
By 3Gen editorial team. Prices checked on claude.com/pricing and Anthropic’s help center.
Anthropic sells Claude on five plans: Free, Pro, Max (in two sizes), Team (with two seat types) and Enterprise. The personal plans differ mainly in how much you can use. The business plans add admin, security and, on Enterprise, a different way of paying: a seat fee plus usage.
If you want an assistant that acts on your email, calendar and calls instead of one you chat with, OpenAssistant is our recommendation for that job. It starts free.

How usage limits work
Claude does not sell a fixed number of messages. Per the pricing FAQ:
- Every plan’s limits reset on a rolling five-hour window. Paid plans also have weekly limits.
- Your chats, the desktop app and Claude Code all draw from one pool.
- Pro gives at least 5x the usage of Free per five-hour session.
- Max gives 5x or 20x the usage of Pro per session.
- Team Standard seats give more than Pro; Premium seats give 5x a Standard seat.
- On paid plans you can switch on usage credits to keep working past a limit, billed at standard API rates.
The personal plans
Free includes chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation and code execution, memory, connectors and Artifacts. It is limited to 5 projects and to the Sonnet and Haiku models.
Pro ($20, or $200 a year) adds more usage, Claude Code, Opus, Projects without Free’s cap of 5, Research, Claude in Chrome, Claude for Microsoft 365 and Outlook, and the ability to hand off and schedule tasks.
Max ($100 or $200) is Pro with 5x or 20x the usage, higher output limits, priority access at busy times, early access to features, and $100 or $200 a month in API credits for building on the Claude Platform. Max is billed monthly only.
The business plans
Team (2 to 150 people) adds, per the pricing page:
- User and organization spend controls (also on Enterprise)
- Central billing and administration, single sign-on and domain verification
- Enterprise search across your organization’s connected tools
- Admin controls for connectors and enterprise deployment of the desktop app
- “No model training on your content by default”
- Project sharing and collaboration
- Mix and match Standard and Premium seats
- “Up to $500 per month in pooled API credits”
Enterprise adds role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom data retention, network-level access control and IP allowlisting, a HIPAA-ready offering and Claude Security (beta). It comes in a self-serve version and a sales-assisted version; the sales-assisted one adds invoicing and net terms.
Training on your data
- Free, Pro and Max: the comparison table lists model training as “Opt-out.”
- Team and Enterprise: “No model training on your content by default.”
What it costs: four work scenarios
Scenario 1: one person, regular use. Pro on yearly billing: $200 a year. On monthly billing: $20 × 12 = $240.
Scenario 2: one person who hits Pro limits every day. Max 5x: $100 × 12 = $1,200 a year. Max 20x: $200 × 12 = $2,400.
Scenario 3: a 5-person team, yearly billing. 5 Standard seats: 5 × $20 × 12 = $1,200 a year. With one Premium seat for the heaviest user: (4 × $20 + $100) × 12 = $2,160.
Scenario 4: a 20-person company on Enterprise. Seats: 20 × $20 × 12 = $4,800 a year, plus usage at API rates. The same 20 people on Team Standard seats (yearly) would be $4,800 a year with usage included up to each seat’s limit. Enterprise costs more as soon as people use it; you are paying for the compliance and admin features.
Assumption: usage stays within each plan’s limits unless stated.
Max or a Team Premium seat?
A Premium seat is $100 a month on yearly billing, the same as Max 5x on monthly billing. They are not the same amount of usage: Max 5x is 5x Pro, while a Premium seat is 5x a Team Standard seat, and a Standard seat gives “more usage than Pro.” Anthropic does not publish the exact ratio, so we can’t say which gives more. The Premium seat comes with Team’s admin, no-training default and pooled API credits, but needs at least 2 seats. Max comes with its own $100 a month in API credits.
