ChatGPT pricing for work: every plan explained
By 3Gen editorial team. Prices checked on chatgpt.com/pricing and OpenAI’s help center.
ChatGPT has eight plans: Free, Go, Plus, three Pro tiers, Business (with two seat types) and Enterprise. For work, the choice mostly comes down to three questions: are you buying for yourself or a team, how heavy is your use, and does your company need its data kept out of training by default?
If you want an assistant that acts on your email, calendar and calls instead of one you chat with, OpenAssistant is our recommendation for that job. It starts free.

OpenAI’s FAQ says monthly billing is offered for Go, Plus and Business, and yearly billing for Business and Enterprise. Pro is listed as three monthly plans.
The personal plans
Free gives unlimited text chats with GPT-6, “subject to abuse guardrails,” and limited uploads, image creation, voice, deep research, memory and Codex.
Go ($8) adds more messages with tools, more uploads, more images and voice, and longer memory. OpenAI notes “this plan may include ads.”
Plus ($20) is the usual pick for one person using ChatGPT for work. It adds advanced reasoning models with GPT-6, projects, scheduled tasks, custom GPTs, expanded deep research, expanded Codex use, and wider access to ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile.
Pro ($100, $200 or $500) is for people who hit Plus limits daily. Per the pricing page, Pro includes Pro reasoning, longer Codex and ChatGPT Work sessions, and Dot, OpenAI’s always-on agent. The tiers differ in included usage; only Pro 500 includes “Ultrafast” models.
Pro 200 changed recently. New Pro 200 subscriptions get a lower usage allowance than before, at the same $200 price. Subscribers who had Pro 200 active at any point from September 22, 2026 through 10 a.m. Pacific on September 29, 2026 keep the old allowance through October 29, 2026, as long as the subscription stays active (OpenAI help). See our price changes log.
The business plans
Business is for teams of 2 to 200. Each person gets a Standard seat ($25 monthly, $20 yearly) or a Premium seat ($125 monthly, $100 yearly), and you can mix them. What Business adds over the personal plans, per the pricing page:
- A secure workspace with SAML SSO and MFA
- Connectors to Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Microsoft 365 and more
- Centralized billing and admin, usage analytics and spend controls
- “No training on your business data by default”
- ChatGPT Space for working with your team and agents
- Dots, always-on agents, on Premium seats
Enterprise is priced by sales. The Enterprise card lists an expanded context window, SCIM, enterprise key management, user analytics, domain verification, role-based access controls and support for data residency in ten regions. The comparison table marks SCIM, enterprise key management, role-based access, IP allowlisting, data residency, the Compliance API and a global admin console as Enterprise only. Domain verification and basic user analytics are on Business too.
OpenAI’s footnote says “Enterprise and Business can purchase credits for more access.”
Training on your data
This is often the deciding factor for work.
- Free, Go, Plus and Pro: the pricing page’s privacy row says content “is used to train our models,” with “Opt-out available.”
- Business: “No training on your business data by default.”
If your company handles client data, the opt-out on a personal plan depends on each person remembering to set it. Business makes it the default.
What it costs: three work scenarios
Scenario 1: one consultant. Plus, $20 a month. Yearly cost: $20 × 12 = $240.
Scenario 2: a 5-person team, everyday use, yearly billing. Business Standard: 5 × $20 × 12 = $1,200. On monthly billing: 5 × $25 × 12 = $1,500.
Scenario 3: the same team, one heavy user. 4 Standard seats and 1 Premium seat, yearly: (4 × $20 + 1 × $100) × 12 = $2,160. Giving everyone a Premium seat instead: 5 × $100 × 12 = $6,000. Mixing seats saves $3,840 a year here.
Assumption: prices exclude tax, and usage stays inside each seat’s allowance.
Pro or a Business Premium seat?
Both cost $100 a month at the low end (Pro 100 monthly; a Premium seat billed yearly). The Premium seat adds the Business workspace, admin controls and no-training default. But Business needs at least 2 users, so a solo buyer can’t get it. If you are one person and need heavy usage, Pro is the option. If you are two or more, a Premium seat for the heavy user plus Standard seats for the rest usually costs less and keeps company data out of training by default.
